Quality Control

APEX Design, Inc. has implemented a total quality management system based upon ISO 9001 2000 standards. Each project follows a defined process that begins with incoming bar stock documentation and inspection. Job inspection sheets are created for each part dimension, and NIST approved metrology equipment is listed for each control measurement.

Project drawings or blueprints are converted into PartMaker CAD/CAM software for time estimates and machine programming, also allowing full 3D graphic machine simulation. All machining operations are simulated realistically as they would occur on our Hardinge ST equipment. Actual machining verification tests are then completed. During production, samples are controlled against the inspection sheet requirements.

APEX Design, Inc. has expanded the capabilities of the metrology department with the addition of RAM Optical Instrumentation equipment. The Sprint Video Measuring Machine uses a high-resolution digital camera, on-axis illumination and superior 25x to 185x optics to deliver accurate metrology performance. The dimensional software includes AutoCheck™, Gage-X™ and CompuFocus™ Motorized Zoom, all based upon the Windows 2000 operating system. The precision measuring stage is 9" x 13" with 6" x 3" x 5" travel.

All quality control room equipment, including hand micrometers at each maching cell are annually inspected, calibrated and independently certified to NIST standards. We invite you to qualify APEX Design, Inc. for your outsourced machine component requirements.
