Expanded Metrology Lab

Atlasburg, PA: APEX Design, Inc. has expanded the capabilities of the metrology department with the addition of RAM Optical Instrumentation equipment. The Sprint Video Measuring Machine uses a high-resolution digital camera, on-axis illumination and superior 25x to 185x optics to deliver accurate metrology performance. The dimensional software includes AutoCheck™, Gage-X™ and CompuFocus™ Motorized Zoom, all based upon the Windows 2000 operating system. The precision measuring stage is 9" x 13" with 6" x 3" x 5" travel. Mrs. Melissa Fluharty, President and majority owner commented, "The expansion of our metrology lab with advanced video measurement technology supports our quality Swiss-type machining services for the U.S. military and other customers." The quality system meets the requirements of U.S. standards ANSI/NCSL A540-1-1994 and the International standard ISO/IEC 17025. The system is calibrated annually with standards traceable to the NIST by Prime Tech Sales, Rochester, NY.

APEX Design, Inc. is a woman-owned small business specializing exclusively in CNC Swiss-type machining. The company is a member of the Electro-Optics Alliance and the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA). Founded in 1997, the company is focused on utilizing the latest machine tool technology to create an automated manufacturing cell.

Contract video measurement services will be offered by APEX Consulting Knowledge, LLC, who will own and operate the metrology equipment. The consulting company is owned by the same management team as APEX Design, Inc., providing various consulting services.
